Yakima StrapThang Pair - 8004014 (12119)

Description

The Yakima StrapThang Surfboard Rack is the perfect "thang" for carrying your surfboard or windsurfer on Yakima base racks. Quickly attaches to the round cross bars of a Yakima multi-purpose roof rack system (not compitble with Thule Racks load bars or factory roof rack cross bars.) We recommend using the Yakima StrapThang in combination with a pair of crossbar pads (not included). Two surfboard straps and all hardware included. Carries up to two surfboards or sailboards

I have used these for about 10 years. They are incredibly easy to use if you have them adjusted for the board you always carry. It is a bit of a nuisance to adjust for a strap length (more boards, wide vs narrow vs surfboard, etc). Also, it is a hassle to deal with the strap when you have no surfboard on the roof. For years, I used to just leave them flapping when there was not board on my roof (now I have a new car) -- again this relates to the nuisance of adjusting. The other main problem I have is that these things are no where near as secure (in holding the board on the car) as a webbing strap. If I am doing anything more than driving 1/2 mile to the beach I always double up with a webbing strap. ... but if I am putting my one trusty 18.5" wide longboard on there and driving 5 blocks to the beach ... they are easy. Having said that at this moment I am shopping for a similar "stretchy" strap solution, but one that has an adjuster in there.

nice way to hold my board. I'm sure there are more heavy duty straps available, but this product works great for the price.
