Chris Barnes is one of Rack N Road’s most veteran managers.  He has worked for us since 1996 been a manager since 1997.  He oversees the Seattle, Bellevue and Costa Mesa stores.  Chris says he loves his job because of the interaction with customers and co-workers.  He originally went to school to be a high school history teacher, but after 3 years, he decided that selling racks and installing hitches was more his speed.  In his off time Chris likes to spend time with his kids.  When not being a responsible father, Chris enjoys snowboarding, skating and playing golf.  As a side project Chris runs a punk rock record label called 206 Records (Check out www.206records.com) and plays guitar in a local punk band called Dukich.

Rack n Road Seattle reviews on Yelp!

Nick M. - Spokane, WA

I bought a Thule Atlantis 1600 from these guys a few weeks ago. I love the box, and their service was great. They helped me find the perfect box, which looks great on my car, and they had me installed in about 15 minutes! Lot's of stuff to choose from in their shop for sure, but I did most of my shopping on their website.

JC D. - Seattle, WA

I spent a frustrating 3 hours trying to find a cargo box compatible with my roof rack! After going through 5 different ones, the REI dude told me none of the boxes would fit my roof rack, but that not all was lost. I needed a customized box, and Rack N Road was the only place that could hook me up. I almost gave it up, because I figured it would cost my a fortune. Erick was awesome! He was very very helpful. I wanted the black Yakima 16 SkyBox, but the only one available was sold. SHIT, here we go again! Well, Erick hooked me up. He sold me the 18 for the price of the 16, and he was able to attach my cargo box without modifying it. That also kept my warranty intact, and saved me another 20 bucks. He made the experience smooth and got me back on the road. Definitely a place to check out if you're having a problem with your roof rack.

Amy K. - Seattle, WA

I thought Thule and Yakima would be sworn enemies never to be able to play nicely together; however, for a mere $10 attachment at Rack N Road the bf's Yakima ski rack will now fit on my Thule load bars! Who knew?! Certainly beats buying a new Thule ski rack for my car for $100+. GREAT customer service, the guy was super helpful, knew exactly what I needed...was in and out in less than five minutes. If you are in need of a rack or replacement parts skip REI and head directly here!

2300 miles round trip! When we arrived at the Yampa river just outside of Craig, Co and started to unload our gear, our rafting buddies could not believe the amount of gear we took out of our box; 3-5gal storage buckets 1-7gal water jug 4-life vests 3-helmets 2-Kayak paddles 3-collapesable buckets 2-dipstix (big squirt guns0 3-collapesable camp chairs 1-collapesable camp table There was more stuff in there, I just can't remeber it all. And what struck me as odd, is that it appears that our gas milage actully is better with our box on?? Anyways we left the kitchen sink at home and took everything else.

My sister and I wanted to take a road trip, so we decided to go from Washington through the panhandle of Idaho, into Montana, down to Wyoming and then back up to Idaho and Washington. We took her Jeep Wrangler which was awesome, you could see all the mountains better. A few of the places we went were Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Billings, and Jackson.

Product of choiceAlthough we didnt have any Thule or Yakima products, I plan to do some serious camping this summer, such as hike the base of Mt. Rainer, and i would really like to get a Thule M.O.A.B. rack for the trip!

we put all our gear from rack n road to good use on a recent mountain bike trip to schweitzer mountain. we have an 86 vanagon syncro, which is a roomy rig. put 4 people in it with all their gear and a couple of coolers and things can get tight. the thule roof box let us get all our camping gear out of the van and up on the roof, freeing up a lot of space in the van. it was also cool to be able to put dirty shoes, packs, etc. in the box and not in the van. the bvg bike rack was awesome. we had 4 heavy freeride bikes on it and it held them in place and secure. being able to swing the bikes out of the way was very cool. it made it possible to acess the back of the van without having to climb over the rear seat. it also makes a great workstand in a pinch. the guys in seattle were cool and easy to work with. they new the right mounts for the van, and which rack set up was best for our bikes/van combo. thanks guys for making an always fun trip that much better.

The 24 Hours of Moab for 2006 was a messy race. But that didn't stop us from having fun on our trip! With two cars loaded up we drove 1800 miles with our Thule V2 carriers and four bikes. It was sooo nice to have our bikes secured well, and to wave the flag for Rack n Road with a smattering of decals on my Thule fairing. The best part of the story is that nothing happened - no theft, no bike launches at 75 mph, no crashes into the Sonic Drive-In awning. Even our gas mileage was over 35 mpg in our Jetta TDI. In the end it couldn't have happened any smoother without the support of the guys at Rack n Road - they had all the gear we needed when we needed it! Thanks Rack n Road!

Three of us headed down to climb at J-tree after finishing pre-break papers, all on little sleep. We were expecting 19 hours on the road. Long and dark and silent through most of Nevada until we reached Las Vegas. I remember waking up next to the Luxor Beam, which was more like waking up into a dream than out of one. We pushed through the night and it was dawn soon in California. Crystal blue sky in j-tree and we all slept the afternoon through, only to find half our bread supply destroyed by little rodents of some kind when we awoke. Instead of packing the car full of food we took the thule box of the roof and next to our camp. It served perfectly as a rodent and water-proof in camp storage box. Excellent double purpose. Plus, for the rest of our day trips, we could actually open the rear hatch because i have a spoiler on the back which didn't allow it to open but a foot. Oops. We had to load the entire car from the rear side doors. Thank god for the quick release attachments!
