I bought a Thule Atlantis 1600 from these guys a few weeks ago. I love the box, and their service was great. They helped me find the perfect box, which looks great on my car, and they had me installed in about 15 minutes! Lot's of stuff to choose from in their shop for sure, but I did most of my shopping on their website.
thought Thule and Yakima would be sworn enemies never to be able to play nicely together; however, for a mere $10 attachment at Rack N Road the bf's Yakima ski rack will now fit on my Thule load bars! Who knew?! Certainly beats buying a new Thule ski rack for my car for $100+. GREAT customer service, the guy was super helpful, knew exactly what I needed...was in and out in less than five minutes. If you are in need of a rack or replacement parts skip REI and head directly here!
The high level of customer service I received here prompted me to write my first Yelp review. Scott and Eric were awesome. Who would think that an outdoor enthusiasts car such as an Xterra would be incompatible with almost every car top cargo box. Eric stayed after closing to help customize the box to fit my car even after I offered to come back the next day. That level of customer service is rare and exhibits an actual enthusiasm for the job. Also, Rack n Road acts as the warranty center for both Yakima and Thule so if there are any problems with your rack system they are who you call to fix it. Rack n Road should be your first and last stop for any rack or cargo box needs.

| Write Your Road Trip Story | | Travelers: Brian LaCourse | | Origin: Seattle Destination: Alpental, Snoqualmie Pass, WA Alpental can be called a lot of things: a habit, home, heaven, etc. For me it is an hour from Seattle, 3x/week road trip. My aging Jeep is comfortable, and still in good condition, in most part because my board rack keeps the sharp edges and snowmelt outside. Now, if only there were a way to keep my friends' dirty boots off the carpet. Product of choiceYakima ski/snowboard rack.
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Travelers: Mike Ghosn | | Origin: Jackson Hole, WY Destination: Bellevue, WA This wasn't a recent road trip, but still worth mentioning.
The only thing that seemed to work perfectly was the Yakima ski rack mounted on top the '73 VW Bug we were driving.
It was snowing heavily as two friends and I left Jackson and made our way across the Teton Mts. into Idaho. Somewhere between Pocatello and Twin Falls we smelled something burning and smoke started coming the fuse box. We lost our windshield wipers. We literally had to drive through the snow with our goggles on and our heads out the window. As you can imagine we had to switch drivers often as it was quite cold. We made it to Twin Falls and had our problems fixed. We thought.
Everything went fine up through Boise, but not far out of Boise the engine started making a nocking sound. We kept driving but the sound kept getting louder. It got to the poinit where it was losing power and sounded like it was going to blow up. We took the next exit which happened to be Fruitland, ID.
To our total surprise there was a VW wrecking yard there. They determined we had a broken crankshaft. Well we couldn't have been in a better spot. They pulled an engine from an old bug and put it in our car.
Four hours later we were on our way
The rest of our trip went smoothly and we finally arrived home in Bellevue safe and sound.
A trip we will never forget.

| | | | | | | | | | | | Travelers: Bev Horn | | Origin: Portland Destination: Portland Okay, so I'm not what you would call a hard-core biker. My butt gets sore easily! :) We're coming in to your store to get a bike rack because we have to take the front wheels off our 2 bikes so we can fit them in the back of the Explorer. We'd probably do more biking if that wasn't such a pain. So we drove down to Portland from Seattle to the Rose Festival (with the unassembled bikes in the rear) Put the front wheels on and biked along the waterfront. That's it. That's my roadtrip. But hopefully after a bike rack on the back, we'll take the bikes everywhere. I've got a handheld GPS that we go geocaching with and that's our goal, to bike and geocache at the same time. Product of choiceThule Hitching Post Pro
| | | | | | | | | | | | Travelers: Martin Colloby | | Origin: Sacramento Destination: Puyallup My wife and I relocated from CA to WA in early 2007, and we couldn't have done the journey without our Thule rack. With all of our belongings packed into containers, I drove up from Sac to Puyallup (via Bellevue) with a canoe and two bikes parked on the roof of my Jeep. We purchased our rack a few years earlier from the RackNRoad store on Arden Way, and the guys there were very helpful. Looking forward to checking out the stores in Washington! Product of choiceThule 450 Crossroad mounts with LB60 bars, two BigMouth Upright bike holders and a 579xt canoe carrier.
| | | | | | | | | | | | Travelers: Greg Bauer | | Origin: Sacramento Destination: Seattle Every year at Thanksgiving for the past 10 years, my family of 5 has been driving the 13 hours up to Seattle to visit our Rack N Road stores we own and my wife's family on the Eastside. Every year we "borrow" a cargo box from our Rack N Road in Sacramento. Ownership has its privilages. I can't tell you how nice it makes a Road Trip when you can put 50% of the luggage in the cargo box. It gives us more room to spread out, makes it easier to find things and is safer and more organized then stuffing everything to the ceiling in the back of the Acura MDX. Product of choiceWe chose the Thule Evolution 1600. The little shorter boxes work great because they allow you to still open the hatch on the vehicle. The Evolution has now been replaced by the Atlantis. Great product to rent or purchase
